COVID-19 Assistance for Alberta Residents

On April 6, 2020 the Government of Canada opened their website to access the Canada Emergency Response Benefit (CERB) which provides financial support to employed and self-employed Canadians who are directly affected by COVID-19.  The CERB provides a payment of $2,000 for a 4-week period (the same as $500 a week) for up to 16 weeks.

We have summarized the COVID-19 support being provided to individuals by the Federal and Alberta governments as well as other institutions which include:

  • Extension of tax-filing and payment deadlines
  • Canada Emergency Response Benefit
  • One-time GST credit
  • Canada Child Benefit amount increase
  • 25% reduction of minimum 2020 RRIF withdrawal
  • Alberta Emergency Isolation support
  • Other relief available
